About Our Shea Butter

Our retail line contains no synthetic chemicals, no skin drying alcohol, and no waxes (or stearic acid) to thicken the product. Our products are naturally thickened merely by the amount of Shea Butter we use. Rule of thumb is that if a cream or lotion is not thick – there is not much Shea Butter in it. A product with a lot of Shea Butter will be naturally thick and should be hard to pump. A lotion or cream that pumps or dispenses easily, does not contain enough of the active Shea Butter ingredient that you are seeking.

Our Shea Butter has been tested for microbes and toxicity. There are currently no governing bodies to oversee the production of Shea Butter. Look for a supplier who tests their Shea Butter and offers a clean butter without debris.

In regards to fair trade Shea Butter, there frankly isn't any, we send money back to the women and are concentrating on providing their children with the education they will need to get out of poverty.
